Bourbon Review: Old Elk OHLQ #1

Old Elk Distillery - Straight Bourbon Whiskey - 106.1 proof

Old Elk Distillery is located in Fort Collins, Colorado and is headed by Master Distiller Greg Metze.

"we choose to do it for significantly longer (weeks instead of days) and in smaller increments to keep the liquid cool when going from barrel to bottling proof. We call this patient technique our “Slow Cut™” proofing process which is used for our flagship bourbon".

“I just smelled the microphone...”

We took a chance on an Old Elk OHLQ pick that we knew very little about. We of course had both heard of Old Elk, but never had the pleasure of sampling. The bottle is super cool, which is honestly what prompted the purchase. When you buy a bottle based on aesthetics of the bottle, you're definitely not guaranteed quality. This particular bourbon, however, did not disappoint one bit. Check out the review, let us know what you think! Per the usual, we look at 5 different categories in our own terms: Bottle, Appearance, Smell, Value, and Taste.
