Bourbon Review: Pinhook Bourbon Country Cask Strength

CJS Beverage Corp - Straight Bourbon Whiskey - 115.3 proof

2018's Bourbon Country is their first Cask Strength release. This particular bourbon won Gold at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

"Working in small batches, we craft each vintage to express the best whiskey rather than the same whiskey, and set the proof to optimize the attributes of that year's crop".

“It's got a good wax job up here.”

Another patio review of our favorite spirit. This time we bust out Pinhook Bourbon Country Cask Strength, which has been sitting on the shelf for awhile now waiting to be reviewed. While we had high hopes, the contrasting flavors did not mesh well for either of us. But hey, we enjoyed the hell out of doing a review! Per the usual, we look at 5 different categories in our own terms: Bottle, Appearance, Smell, Value, and Taste. Enjoy the review, drop us a comment and make sure you subscribe to our podcast, YouTube, like us on Facebook and Instagram.

Bottle: “It's got some good girth to it in the hands” – Steve

Appearance: “Delayed drippiest, which tells you everything!” - Steve

Smell: “It's almost potpourri... it'll wake the nostrils up.” – Ian

Value: $50 bucks or so retail

Taste: “Wood. It's woody. Spicy wood.” - Ian

Ian: 5.2

Steve: 5.8
