Bourbon Review: Widow Jane

Widow Jane Distillery - Straight Bourbon Whiskey - 91 proof

The Widow Jane Distillery operates out of the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York.

"I wouldn't say its disappointing, I just wanted more"

All Widow Jane whiskeys are proofed with pure limestone mineral water from the legendary Rosendale Mines of NY

Widow Jane is one of those brands that here in Ohio, we had seen on blogs and reviews from other bourbon enthusiasts, but were never afforded the opportunity to purchase. Of course, as soon as we got our hands on a bottle, Ohio added the small batch bourbon to its inventory and it became readily available. Even though we paid a little over retail ($70), it was a good pickup as we were both eager to try. At the end of the day, Widow Jane is solid, though it left us both wanting more. More what? It's hard to pinpoint... maybe a little higher proof. Maybe a longer finish. Still, it is solid and worth at least a pour at your local bar. Per the usual, we look at 5 different categories in our own terms: Bottle, Appearance, Smell, Value, and Taste.
