Whiskey Review: Willett Family Estate Bottled 4 year Rye

Willett Distillery - Small Batch Rye Whiskey (rare release) - 110 proof

Willett is one of the most iconic brand names in bourbon, hailing from Bardstown, Kentucky.

"In the spring of 1936, the family breaks ground on the distillery. Willett Distillery was erected on the family’s farm, three short years after the repeal of prohibition.".

Marco made a strong statement by saying that the Willett family should fire their marketing guy. We disagree, and got Marco to walk it back a bit.

At the suggestion of our friends at the Cleveland Bourbon Co-Op, we picked up a Willett Family Estate Bottled 4 Year Rye whiskey to taste. We are completely novice in the rye whiskey world, but we've also been curious, so this was a good one to pop the ol' cherry. We had our buddy Marco Conti in studio with us, who did his best to provide value… and he tried to fire Willett’s marketing director. The Dads were impressed with this rye whiskey, Marco not so much. Per the usual, we look at 5 different categories in our own terms: Bottle, Appearance, Smell, Value, and Taste.
